RUDOLF KURZ (Canada)

Trained as a medical doctor in his native Germany, Rudolf later studied painting at the Art Students’ League in New York City.

Since moving to Ontario in 1983, Rudolf has shown his paintings and etchings in four solo exhibitions and innumerable group shows. He is represented by Pentimento Fine Art Gallery in Toronto.

Rudolf is the illustrator of The Rats Came Back (Annick, 1995), a book for young children that was short listed for a Mr. Christie’s award. In 2004 the Porcupine’s Quill published Looking for Snails on a Sunday Afternoon, a collection of his writings and etchings that won an honourable mention from the Alcuin Society and was short listed for a Leipzig book award. An Illustrated Alphabet for the Illiterate (Porcupine’s Quill), written in collaboration with his teenage daughter Elizabeth, was published in 2006.
