YVES BERGER (France)

Yves Berger was born in the Haute-Savoie (the French Alps). He lives and works in the small village where he grew up.

“Louis lives alone with 18 cows in the old farm of his parents, and their parents before them.  In the winter the cows stay in the stable, just behind the wall where Louis has his bed.  When he gets up, Louis goes to the stable, passing through the kitchen where the fire has gone out.  Only after he has milked all the cows does he light the fire and heat some of the milk for his coffee.

With him I learned more about life and art than in Geneva Art School. The devotion, the endurance, the mistakes we learn from, the never-ending doubts, and most all the faith.”
