JOHN BERGER (UK)
Born in London in 1926, John Berger is considered one of the most original and influential writers on visual art of recent times. His books, innovative in form and wide-ranging in what they address, include novels, short stories, poetry, film scripts and essays on art and modern culture. His groundbreaking work Ways of Seeing is internationally acclaimed. His novel 'G' won the Booker Prize in 1972. Other works include About Looking, Another Way of Telling, the trilogy Into Their Labours (Pig Earth, Once in Europa and Lamb and Flag) and To the Wedding. His collected essays The Shape of the Pocket appeared in 2001, Here is Where We Meet, a work of fiction, in 2005. His latest novel, From A to X was published in 2008. |
